Описание: Monteraponi is first and foremost still a quaint medieval village near Radda in Chianti, yet it’s also one of a few quirky wineries making a name for this quaint subzone of Chianti Classico — other players being Brancaia and Montevertine. As the name would suggest, the organically certified winery rests its attention on high-altitude vineyard sites — a natural amphitheater with around 12 hectares under vine, to be precise, that can be little short of 600m above sea level. This unique terroir is then treated with expert attention in the cellar by Michele Braganti, who uses only larger oak casks, prefers no fining or filtration and who eschews cultured yeasts and malolactic bacteria in favor of self-starting fermentations. The Chianti Classicos we tasted during this trip, as always, are fine textured and tightly tuned wines that show soul and energy. Monteraponi also makes a fantastic Trebbiano, which is one of the best in Tuscany, taking a page out of his friend Luca Sanjust’s book, who makes his own Trebbiano at Petrolo atop the Valdarno hills nearby.
