This week proved otherwise.

A few rankings shifted fast. One record climbed after a second listen. Another fell apart once the novelty wore off. The margin between a 3.5 and a 4 got thinner than I expected.

There were moments of genuine surprise, especially where production choices changed how the songs hit over time. Some albums rewarded patience. Others exposed their limits once the hooks faded.

I also started noticing how pace affects perception. Listening for impact is different than listening for structure. When you compress that process, weaknesses surface quickly.
