How to Remove a Jeep Wrangler JK Transmission 2012 - 2018 - NAG 1 (W5A580)

Описание: This video shows you the step by step process on removing a Jeep Wrangler JK 3.6L transmission. We are removing a 5-Speed W5A580 automatic transmission from a 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK in this video. The transmission type which is applicable for this video is the NAG 1, W5A580 or WA580. These are the 722.6 transmissions.

We chose the option of removing the transmission with the transfer case attached as one unit.

In this video, we removed an aftermarket (Adams driveshaft).

High level steps we used to remove the transmission (see video):
1) Secure the Jeep on level ground so it did not move
2) Remove the Rear Drive Shaft (some may only want to remove the transfer case end)
3) Remove the T-Case Skid Plate, Cross brace (not Crossmember at this time)
4) Remove the front drive shaft
5) Start the process of removing the exhaust cross over
6) Remove the crossmember (Support Transfer Case Side)
7) Finish the removal of the exhaust cross over
8) DISCONNECT BATTERY
9) Start disconnecting electrical connectors, hoses & linkages (lowering T-case end helps)
10) Remove all connections both side of transmission (including dip stick)
11)Only remove top 2 bolts and bolt at 2pm position (fuel bracket passenger side end)
12) Reposition transmission jack to center (balance point near pan)
13) Raise transmission slightly to level - remove bellhousing bolts - leave at least 2 (safety step)
14) Remove starter & torque converter bolts
15) Remove final bolts on bellhousing
16) Check area and back away & lower transmission

For transmission work, a transmission jack with a safety chain or strap is required. When working in your home garage, ensure vehicle is on a level ground, secured (not able to move) and proper jack stands are used to provide adequate clearance.
