Описание: 💡 In this webinar, we explore how Earth Observation (EO) and geospatial data are transforming the way sustainability is monitored in the mining and energy sectors.

💡 The session demonstrates how integrating satellite imagery, atmospheric and thermal data, and machine learning enables more accurate identification of environmental and social impacts such as deforestation, emissions, and land-use change. Participants will discover how EO and geospatial intelligence can support evidence-based decision-making, improve accountability, and contribute to a more transparent and sustainable financial and industrial ecosystem.

Speaker:
Ms. Stavroula Panagiotidou, PhD Candidate at the Technical University of Crete (TUC) and Research Associate at SenseLab Research Group of Spatial Informatics, part of the Laboratory of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering.
Her research focuses on sustainability reporting through Earth Observation and geospatial data, integrating satellite technologies, machine learning, and decision analysis to evaluate ESG performance in the mining and energy sectors. She holds an Integrated Master’s in Mineral Resources Engineering and is completing her MBA in Finance at TUC. Stavroula has co-authored several scientific publications, presented her work at international conferences, and contributes to sustainability and innovation initiatives through her roles in the EURECA-PRO European University Alliance and the Greek Energy Forum.
