Spanning over 600,000 acres, the park features more than 500 miles of dirt roads, 12 designated wilderness areas, and some of the most unique desert scenery in the state. Anza-Borrego is especially unusual for its 130 massive metal sculptures scattered throughout Galleta Meadows, all of which you can drive to and explore. Anza-Borrego also has a deep and fascinating history. Native American tribes once lived throughout this region, and today you can still find ancient petroglyphs, old village sites, and cultural landmarks across the park. Wildlife lovers may even spot the endangered Peninsular bighorn sheep (we didn’t get lucky this time).
