The Du'a in Sujood That Forgives Every Sin

Описание: In this video, we explore one of the most powerful and comprehensive duʿā’s that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to recite in sujūd (prostration). Reported in Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, this beautiful supplication is:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، وَعَلاَنِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ
Allāhumma-ghfir lī dhanbī kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, wa awwalahu wa ākhirahu, wa ʿalāniyatahu wa sirrahu.

Meaning:
“O Allah, forgive me all my sins — the small and the great, the first and the last, the open and the hidden.”

✨ Why is this duʿā’ special?

• Imam al-Nawawī explained that this supplication covers every possible type of sin, leaving nothing out.

• Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī said that although the Prophet ﷺ was sinless, he still made this duʿā’ to teach his Ummah humility and the constant need for forgiveness.

• Ibn ʿUthaymīn reminded that even if we feel we have no sins, we should still ask Allah for forgiveness, because human beings are always falling short.

🌙 Why in Sujūd?
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The closest a servant is to his Lord is while he is in sujūd, so increase in duʿā’ therein.” (Muslim)


This means your most powerful prayers and pleas for forgiveness should be made while your forehead is on the ground, in complete submission to Allah.
