La Thuile Ski Trip – DIY Booking vs Crystal Ski | Family Skiing in Italy 🎿🇮🇹

Описание: This year we decided to try something different… instead of booking our La Thuile ski holiday with Crystal (as we usually do), we organised everything ourselves to see how the costs and experience compared!

We booked:
✈️ Flights with Ryanair
🏡 An Airbnb apartment
🚗 Car rental from Turin Airport
⛷️ Ski rental, lift passes, and ski school lessons for our son

Here’s how it went…

✅ Pros of DIY Booking:
• More flexibility – no waiting around for transfers, we drove straight from Turin to La Thuile.
• Loads more space in the apartment, felt more relaxed compared to hotels.
• Quieter location than Planibel, away from the main crowds.

❌ Cons of DIY Booking:
• Ski lessons started later (9am), whereas with Crystal you can drop kids from 8:30am and hit the slopes early.
• Ski lockers were crowded – sometimes easier just to walk back to the apartment.

🤔 Things that didn’t matter too much:
• 10-minute walk to the slopes (beautiful but might not suit everyone).
• Cost ended up being almost the same as Crystal, so no real savings.

🏁 Conclusion:
While booking everything ourselves gave us flexibility and space, we’ll probably stick with Crystal in the future for the ease and convenience they offer – especially with kids!
