Описание: Precision in Counselling- linking Healing Inner Conflict (HIC) to Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Dr Gabor Mate’s Compassionate Inquiry offering holistic approaches for sustainable results in shorter-term interventions.

As the founder of HIC, David ‘Bhakti’ Gotlieb will take participants through a step by step process of how to use HIC principles to get surgically accurate results in a short timeframe.

Bhakti will synthesise the similarities between these three popular modalities noting the differences that make the difference. All three acknowledge the need to take into consideration trauma in early childhood and a big picture understanding of how these disturbances emerge in later life, including a focus on dissociation as a function of survival that later gets misdiagnosed as irrational due to what it looks like in present moment adult context.

Participants will be offered a working knowledge of :

HIC Client Triage: This will include a step by step process of going from the present moment disturbance that the client brings in, to the early childhood disturbance including the dissociative methods that will have been inevitably used as a survival technique showing up now as self-distraction in later life.

HIC Signal Work: Participants will be shown how to work with clients' verbal and non-verbal signals using HIC principles.

HIC Four Mechanisms: Inner Criticism, Acting Out, Passive Aggression and Self-Distraction will be explained and practised. Participants will be encouraged to attempt to find even one exception to these 4 ways of diagnosing and treating clients' inner or outer disturbances.

HIC Eight Floor card Template: When one understands the mechanism underlying the disturbance the client's own signals can be followed to guide them through the eight-floor card template so they end up with a 100% clear picture of what is going on internally at the moment of disturbance.

HIC Internal Intervention: Once participants have a working knowledge of the above Bhakti will run through an example of how to take someone from their Desired Outcome (DO) to how to work with the Fight (Anger)/Flight(Fear) parts which respond in a reptilian brain (Old brain) survival-oriented way as well as the part more aligned to the Neo-cortex (New brain) that is so often unable to express itself freely due to these internal disturbances/injunctions.

HIC Adult Limit setting exercises and Anger Expression exercises: Both prerequisites for sustainable Internal Intervention.

Bhakti will use real-life anecdotal examples to illustrate this work as well as fielding case studies from the participants.

Participants will receive PDFs of Bhakti’s eBook on HIC, a set of the eight-floor cards, as well as relevant PowerPoint images and handouts.

David ‘Bhakti’ Gotlieb brings a lifetime of experience to supervision and Healing Inner Conflict (HIC) Training. He has a Masters of Applied Science in Critical Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Social Ecology (UWS). He has worked as a youth worker for Sydney City Mission’s Wilderness Program, Burnside’s Adolescent Program, 10years as a Family Support Worker, 7 years running personal developments programs for Corrective Services and 10 years developing and running a partner’s support group at Westmead Hospital’s Breast Cancer Institute. He has trained with Dr Richard Alpert (AKA Ram Dass...Be Here Now, How Can I Help?) Dr Arnie Mindell (ProcessOriented Psychology), Helena Cornelius (ConflictResolution Network).

He has recently retired from face to face counselling having seen clients for nearly forty years and through his work with extreme states of dissociation has developed healing Inner Conflict’ (HIC) which is a simple method for understanding and intervening effectively with the mechanisms that manifest as disturbing behaviours.
