✅ Fix Long Startup Time – Step-by-Step Guide
🔍 Step 1: Check Your Startup Time in Task Manager
Right-click the Taskbar the bar at the bottom of the screen.
Click Task Manager from the menu.
Or press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard.
If Task Manager opens in a small window, click More details at the bottom.
Click the Startup tab top menu.
At the top-right, look for Last BIOS time if available.
Example: "Last BIOS time: 25.6 seconds"
Review the list of startup apps. Check which ones have High impact.
Optional: You can disable unnecessary ones here later.
⚙️ Step 2: Open Power Options in Control Panel
Press Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
Type control and press Enter – this opens the Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click System and Security.
Click Power Options.
On the left side, click Choose what the power buttons do.
🔓 Step 3: Enable Access to Shutdown Settings
On the next screen, click the link at the top that says:
Change settings that are currently unavailable
This will allow you to change the greyed-out shutdown options.
❌ Step 4: Turn Off Fast Startup
Scroll down to the Shutdown settings section.
Uncheck the box next to Turn on fast startup recommended.
Click Save changes at the bottom.
🔄 Step 5: Restart Your Laptop
Close all open programs.
Click the Start menu.
Select Power Restart.
After restarting, your system may take a bit longer once, but will often start cleaner and more stable afterward.
🧠 Why This Helps
"Fast Startup" uses a hybrid shutdown part hibernation, which can cause long startup times, especially if the system has driver or hardware issues.
Disabling it forces a clean boot, which can improve stability and reduce errors on some machines.
