Описание: One of the most famous and best snare drums ever built is the Gene Krupa model Slingerland Radio King. This snare drum first came out in 1936 which was a solid maple shell with solid maple rings in the 6.5x14 inch size. This Slingerland model was made for the great Gene Krupa who put drummers out in front for the first time playing with Benny Goodman in 1936 to early 1938. I found this Gene Krupa Radio King snare drum in my garage which a friend gave to me 15 years ago. It was in bad shape, but the solid maple 6.5x14 inch shell was in perfect condition. So I decided to restore it using new old stock parts to bring it back to new condition like what Gene Krupa would of played back in 1938. I knew of a friend who bought all the new old stock Slingerland parts from the Gibson era and found the parts and Slingerland marine pearl finish to complete this project. I got the radio king strainer, steamline radio king lugs, straight edge hoops, and marine pearl to bring this great snare back to new condition. Slingerland only made this Gene Krupa RK snare drum in the 6.5x14 inch size from 1936 to 1940. Gene Krupa did not like a tone control in his snare drum since he wanted the most open sound possible. So I did not put this tone control back in this snare drum. His good friend Buddy Rich also never had tone control put in his Slingerland Ring snare drums or any drums that he played. As you can see in the video, the solid maple shell is in great condition for being 82 years old. I put on the Remo Classic Diplomat Fiberskin heads which sounds like the old calf heads and this1938 Radio King snare drum sounds just amazing! Every major drummer today and of the past loved Gene Krupa from Buddy Rich,John Bonham,Keith Moon,Jeff Hamilton, Steve Smith,Dave Weckl,Ringo Starr, and Ken Loomer just to name a few. I was so lucky to have meet Gene Krupa in 1971 and seen this great artist at work with his band. In this tribute 1938 Gene Krupa Slingerland Radio King snare drum that I restored, I will think of Gene when I play it.
