A golden chapter is set to be added to the BJP's political journey today. For the first time, a BJP Chief Minister will be sworn in in Bihar today. At 11:00 AM, Samrat Choudhary will take the oath as the new Chief Minister of Bihar at the Lok Bhawan in Patna. Alongside him, JDU MLAs Vijay Choudhary and Bijendra Yadav will be sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers. After being elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party, Samrat Choudhary staked his claim to form the government before the Governor.Prior to this, Nitish Kumar tendered his resignation. Samrat Chaudhary, who joined the BJP a mere nine years ago, is regarded as a highly vocal and assertive leader. First elected as an MLA 26 years ago, he became Deputy CM in 2024 and, following the BJP's resounding victory in 2025, was sworn in as Deputy CM once again. Now, in his capacity as Chief Minister, he faces the dual challenge of governing the entire state of Bihar while simultaneously keeping the party and the NDA alliance united. Meanwhile, the BJP—and its predecessor, the Jana Sangh—has consistently played an active role in Bihar's politics. Although the BJP had emerged as the single largest party on two previous occasions, the Chief Minister's post invariably went to Nitish Kumar. This marks the first instance where the BJP not only holds the highest number of seats but also has a Chief Minister of its own in Samrat Chaudhary.
