Do you ever wonder how locals in Bangkok spend a Sunday morning?
Today’s walk takes us into the backstreets of the Old Town; quiet residential alleys at first, then slowly into livelier lanes filled with vendors, and finally into Trok Mor Market, one of the city’s busiest morning markets.
Trok Mor has been a staple of local life for decades. Along this short stretch of about 200 meters, you’ll find everything: hot breakfasts, fresh vegetables, meat and seafood, snacks, and home-style Thai side dishes, all in one place.
Unlike Bangkok’s night markets that cater to travelers, this is where locals truly come to shop for their daily meals. On weekends especially, the crowds are bigger, the food more varied, and the atmosphere more vibrant. The market opens as early as 5 in the morning and starts winding down by late morning, so if you come around 8 AM, you’ll catch the energy at its peak.
