(31 May 1979) Twenty-two bombs exploded almost simultaneously in Paris early this morning (Thursday) and a Corsican nationalist group have said they did it. The targets were banks, travel agencies and other offices, however, no one was injured. A spokesman for the Corsicans telephoned a news agency saying that the violence was "simply a necessary and legitimate means of ending colonial aggression in Corsica." The Corsican National Liberation Front" -- that's the name of the group -- also said they wanted to call attention to the forthcoming trials of some 30 of their members for similar bombings. most of the explosions came in office doorways, shattering hundreds of windows and damaging parked cars in the streets. In addition to banks and travel agencies, the targets included the officies of the transport ministry, the civil aviation ministry and the government gas and electricity services. The front seeks independence for Corsica, which has been under French rule for more than 200 years.
