• Stop Pulling: Instead of just pulling the person toward you, pull your elbow toward your own pocket to break their balance. 
• Control the Body: Depending on your partner's body, you can also look to find the belt to help move them in. 
• Footwork: Focus on the specific foot steps required to clear the center and finish the throw. 
Dominating the Transition
• Beat the "First Barrier": Immediately slide to stop your opponent from catching you in the half-guard, which is the first barrier to your success. 
• Heavy Chin Pressure: Use heavy pressure, specifically at the chin, to flatten your partner and prevent them from escaping. 
• Secure the Mount: Maintain a strong connection to the fabric and "walk" your way into the mount, which is the best place to be.
