The Grueling Ranger Selection Process

Описание: Have you ever wondered how rangers in Africa are selected? Here is a short glimpse into the hard work and training that these dedicated men and women must go through to get a shot at becoming a ranger. They not only have to be in peak physical condition but must also be well-trained in all aspects for any situation that might arise when on patrol.

As wildlife numbers increase in Zinave National Park, Mozambique, the need for more rangers to protect these species becomes increasingly important. After the recent completion of the ranger training camp, it is now hosting the year’s first intake of new ranger candidates, and Peace Parks’ Tiaan Kleynhans, is certainly putting them through their paces! Over a thousand applications were received from men and women who wanted to join Zinave’s ranger team and the top 200 candidates were invited to report for selection. Of those, only 34 candidates will start basic training.
