In this episode we apply the "Divide And Conquer" problem-solving approach to the process of recovering the area of the Reuleaux triangle as follows.
Divide: first, we partition the Reuleaux triangle into a union of four smaller and simpler, primitive, parts - one equilateral triangle and three circular segments.
Solve all primitive parts: next, we compute the areas of all these primitive parts. Along the way we use the previously studied "Transform And Conquer" problem-solving approach when we recover the area of the three circular segments identified in the previous step.
Find a way to combine the solutions of all the primitive parts into solution of the whole: lastly, we add up all the areas of the all the primitive parts and voila, we have the area of the Reuleaux triangle as a function of the length of the generating regular hexagon.
