Destination 'Sholagram' in East Bardhaman- Rural Bioscope (Sn 2 : Ep 12) | National Award Winner

Описание: West Bengal has a very long and rich tradition of arts and Handicrafts. Various types of handicrafts are found in different corners of the state. Shola art is one such handicraft item of Bengal. These Shola handicrafts are primarily made in the village of Bonkapasi, popular as Sholagram, in East Bardhaman district of West Bengal.

This episode of ‘Rural Bioscope’ visits Bonkapasi village and explores the making of the Shola handicrafts by the artisans of the village. Most of the families living in Bonkapasi village are involved in the production of the Shola artifacts. One of the Shola handicraft artisan, Mr. Ashish Malakar of Bonkapasi village, a third-generation artist in the family, has won the prestigious ‘National Award’ for his handicrafts.
