The protest started outside Lahore High Court at GPO Chowk against the shifting of civil courts to Model Town and FIRs against lawyers. The situation turned tense when lawyers marched towards the Chief Justice Block and police used baton charge, tear gas shelling and water cannon.

According to the latest reports, more than 50 lawyers were detained, out of which 29 have been released on bail. Traffic at Mall Road and GPO Chowk has been restored and the situation is now under control.

However, lawyers say their protest will continue until their demands are met. The Pakistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association have condemned the incident and announced a nationwide strike.
