Majeed Fidayeen Brigade is an elite suicide bombing wing of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). It was formed in 2010 as a specialized squad for high-impact attacks on security forces and strategic targets. The unit is named after Majeed Baloch, a figure revered within the Baloch separatist narrative. Majeed Brigade operatives carry out fidayeen (self-sacrifice) missions, including suicide bombings and vehicle-borne IED attacks. In the recent Operation Herof wave, the Brigade included female suicide bombers among its ranks. One woman bomber, Asifa Mengal, joined the Brigade in 2024 and attacked the ISI headquarters in Noshki before dying. The Brigade’s fighters are often described as ‘fidayeen’ — martyrdom attackers willing to die on mission. During the Jan-Feb 2026 insurgent offensive, Majeed Brigade struck multiple locations across Balochistan. Pakistani forces reported kills and counter-raids after the Brigade’s attacks, marking one of the deadliest escalations. US has designated BLA and its Majeed Brigade as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, highlighting global concern. The Brigade has historical links to high-profile past attacks, including those targeting Chinese interests and infrastructure. Its operations reflect a broader insurgency in Balochistan, driven by long-standing local grievances and contested state authority.
