It has blue head and chest, and blackish headphone covers. Its beak is brownish with the pinkish base and has the whitish naked eye area. The rest of the body is mainly green with the infra-caudal feathers and the base of the lower surface of the red tail.
Its reproduction occurs between January and April It nests in hollows of palms, trunks and dead branches where they lay 4 eggs which only incubates the female, the incubation takes between 24 and 29 days and the complete development of the chicks takes between 55 and 60 days.
Presenta cabeza y pecho azul, y cobertoras auriculares negruzcas. Su pico es pardusco con la base rosácea y tiene el área ocular desnuda blanquecina. El resto del cuerpo es principalmente verde con las plumas infracaudales y la base de la superficie inferior de la cola roja.
Su reproducción se da entre enero y abril Anida en huecos de palmas, troncos y ramas muertas en donde ponen 4 huevos los cuales incuba solamente la hembra, la incubación tarda entre 24 y 29 días y el desarrollo completo de los polluelos toma entre 55 y 60 días.
