THIS IS THE FUTURE THAT YOU CREATED. The culmination of every SOUL asking me for a sans battle. It's rather difficult, but if you keep trying it, you'll find it's actually not so bad.

The battle in SM actually follows the same progression as the real fight in the game (bullshit opener - easy stuff involving bones - Gaster blasters - PAUSING - fake stalemate), which was done intentionally.

It's possible to kill sans at any point after the last arrow has passed by using the start button, I just waited for him to finish his speech for the purpose of this video. If you wish to SPARE him, simply wait for the timer to end.

The fight also remembers how many times you've played it and failed it and changes some dialogue accordingly, much like the real game.

To everyone who is insanely confused by the rapid scrolling @ 2:22 ,

The rapid scroll part is much easier than it looks. DON'T try to follow the playfield. Just look at afterimages, by looking at one part of the screen only. The refresh rate makes it so that you can read individual frames.

Try waving your hand in front of an old CRT monitor or flickering light - you should be able to see your hand clearly in each "frame" that's been lit by the screen. The same trick applies to the playfields here.

If the effects don't work, make sure you're using the correct version of StepMania, and that backgrounds are enabled.
If the song doesn't show up, make sure you've put it WITHIN A FOLDER inside the Songs folder (one level deep).
It should look like Songs/MyFolder/MEGALOVANIA. Make sure it is UNZIPPED as well.

Q: Isn't this is harder than the original fight!?

A: Nah, I think this is much easier.
If you have experience with mod files (see my channel) this file doesn't do much that's new or scary. The sans fight in the game is much more about precise dodging, which makes it much easier to die, also healing delays the turn counter etc. stuff like that

Q: How do I play this?

A: Download StepMania's newest version from http://www.stepmania.com/download/
Then download the StepMania 5 version of the Song and put it in the Songs/StepMania 5 folder in your stepmania installation. Following the instructions, it shouldn't be too hard.

Q: I just started, but sans says I've already died twice!

A: Go into lua/chara/sans and delete savefile.lua

Q: Do you have to memorize the steps???

A: You actually don't need to, active members of the stepmania community beat stuff like this in two tries, it's all about optimizing your reading technique - how fast can you chunk the next 5-6 arrows and ignore the bullshit long enough for you to be able to chunk 5-6 more.

I actually run a series of tournaments dedicated to SightReading stuff like this (UKSRT series), which means every contestant only gets one shot, and is not allowed to have seen the charts before.

There are people who go to those tournaments who get better scores than me on their first play than I do after finishing it, even though I made the stepcharts!
