In Merryn's Aviary: updates including Sigma and her baby, Tau

Описание: I love it when Merryn sends me updates on my rescues. Sigma had smacked herself around a bit so took a few days to go in to hang with the other girls, but she's doing well and a few weeks later she had her baby, a little guy named Tau.
All the usual culprits feature in her updates, Pantaloons, Paragon, Knickerbockers, Sterling, Nara, Oliver, Waive, Tassel, Base and her baby Raffie, Poli and her baby Dolla, Tizzi, Cassis and I forget whom else.
The adults are going to the release aviary this weekend, except for the girls with non flying (yet) babies. They need to be able to keep up with mumbat and the colony so might end up going north if they're too young for the last release in a few months. The babies are all too big for mumbat to be released and for her to fly out carrying them. If they stay in care either with Merryn or at the release aviary, they'll get some flight practice before release.

It's all happening; the first release of adults in 6 months, plus the overwintered juveniles. I'll see if we can get vid footage of their test flights, but it's organised chaos, and the bats get stressed if there are too many noisy people around when they are test flown when they arrive.

Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for our batties. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult).

The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie.
