Описание:
The Foam Roll Wall Slide is a shoulder and upper-back exercise designed to improve scapular stability, serratus anterior activation, and controlled overhead mobility—key components for healthy shoulders and efficient overhead movement.
What this exercise trains:
-Serratus anterior activation
-Scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt
-Upper-back and thoracic extension control
-Shoulder coordination in overhead ranges
Why the foam roller matters:
-Using a foam roller against the wall provides tactile feedback that encourages the shoulder blades to move smoothly along the rib cage while maintaining proper alignment. This helps reduce over-reliance on the upper traps and promotes better scapular mechanics.
Key setup & technique cues:
-Stand facing a wall with a foam roller between your forearms and the wall
-Elbows start bent at roughly shoulder height
-Apply gentle pressure into the foam roller
-Slowly slide the arms upward while maintaining pressure
-Keep ribs stacked and avoid arching the low back
-Finish only as high as you can control without shrugging
Common compensations to avoid:
-Shoulder shrugging or upper-trap dominance
-Losing contact or pressure on the foam roller
-Excessive lumbar extension to gain range
-Rushing through the movement
@ZehringPhysicalTherapy foam roll wall slides are used to build strong, coordinated scapular control and support pain-free overhead movement.
