હરિશ્ચંદ્ર કે હરિશ્ચન્દ્ર અયોધ્યાના સૂર્યવંશી રાજા હતા જે લોકબોલીમાં સત્યવાદી હરિશ્ચંદ્ર, રાજા હરિશ્ચંદ્ર કે સત્યવાદી રાજા હરિશ્ચંદ્ર તરીકે વધુ પ્રખ્યાત છે. તેઓ નિબંધન રાજાના પૌત્ર હતા અને સત્યવ્રત (ત્રિશંકુ) રાજા અને સત્યવ્રતા રાણીના પૂત્ર હતા. તેમને કુલ ૧૦૦ રાણીઓ હતી જેમાં તારામતી તેમની પટ્ટરાણી હતી. હરિશ્ચંદ્રનું ચરિત અનેક ગ્રંથોમાં વર્ણવેલું છે, જેમકે ઐતરેય બ્રાહ્મણ, માર્કંડેય પુરાણ, દેવી-ભાગવત પુરાણ, બ્રહ્મવૈવર્તક પુરાણ, મહાભારત, વગેરે.
Taramati is the queen of King Harishchandra, a noble and honest king who lived in the Treta Yuga. She is also known as Shaivya.
Story
-The king and his family lived in a prosperous kingdom.
-The king was known for his truthfulness and caring behavior.
-The gods tested the king's faith by making him leave the palace with only his wife and son.
-The king and his family went to another kingdom and found work.
-The king worked at a cremation ground, and his wife worked at a prostitute's house.
-The king's son was bitten by a snake while picking flowers for the prostitute's prayer.
-The king sold himself to a guard at the cremation ground to pay for the rites for his son.
