Sandwich Kent's Walls Gates and Time-Trapped Streets

Описание: EPISODE 5 of my Discovering Kent’s Seaside Towns series takes us somewhere a little different — the medieval town of Sandwich. It may no longer sit on the sea, but its history is deeper than many of the coastal towns combined.

In this episode, I explore the Quay and share how Sandwich once thrived as a major Cinque Port; wander through Fisher Gate and along hidden back alleys; climb the tower of St Peter’s Church for breathtaking panoramic views; stroll through the Guildhall Square; walk the atmospheric Rope Walk; and finally, I head out to Richborough Roman Fort, the gateway to Roman Britain (even if it was closed on the day!).

Along the way I uncover quirky stories, centuries of history, and the charm that makes Sandwich one of Kent’s most fascinating towns.
