About this video: On October 3, 2025, MBTA GP40MC-3 1130 and the railroad’s two 3GS21B type “Genset” switchers were brought to the Readville facility in Boston, MA after being released from the Rochester shops in West Wareham, MA. The equipment was bound for the Commuter Rail Maintenance Facility/Boston Engine Terminal on the North Side in Somerville, MA. The Readville switcher was responsible for bringing the equipment on the last leg of the journey from Readville to Somerville via the Grand Junction Running Track in Cambridge. GP40MC 1116 powered the move both ways, and we chased them through Cambridge as the unusual combination of locomotives made its way through town, with the switcher later returning back to the south side with an F40 and two HSP46s.
