An online mental health platform developed by a Toronto digital health entrepreneur is aiming to help therapists better connect virtually with children who need help.
PracticeSpace.Health CEO Matthew Cohen was diagnosed with bipolar 2, borderline personality disorder, and ADHD. He says tools like games and books helped him when he started therapy as a kid. But the switch to online therapy during the pandemic created a problem for children, adolescents and neurodivergent adults.
“My therapist came to me and said ‘You know Matt, now we do video and it’s fine and you sit on your couch, but when you came in 20 years ago you wanted to play games and do art for us to be able to build rapport. And I am not able to do that effectively online,'” Cohen says.
