This video is an image processing and comparison of Crab Nebula (M1, NGC 1952). Initially, I processed the raw data without any filter. In the second stage, I applied a 7 nm dual band filter to enhance the details. The culmination involves a side-by-side comparison of images with and without the dual band filter, alongside data from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).
Situated in the constellation of Taurus, the Crab Nebula (M1, NGC 1952) stands as a testament to a cosmic explosion. This supernova remnant is positioned a staggering 6,500 light-years away from our vantage point. Its presence has been documented since 1054, when a Chinese astronomer first described its celestial dance.

The Crab Nebula caught my attention after the JWST unveiled its latest, incredibly clear image of it. Similar to my fascination with the Ring Nebula video, I couldn't help but wonder how the image quality through my telescope stacked up against the cutting-edge technology they used. One of the most surprising discoveries for me has been the impact of using a dual-band filter. While I understood that light pollution could significantly affect the imaging of emission nebulae, I didn't anticipate the extent of the difference it could make. The image captured with the dual-band filter reveals intricate details of the filament structures within the Crab Nebula, surpassing my expectations.
