Supreme Court Backs Independent Probe Into Alleged Police Excesses During NEET Protests Nationwide

Supreme Court NEET protests hearing also saw the court call for a future protocol to handle such demonstrations. The Centre supported an independent probe, with Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stating that students may not have been responsible for the violence and suggesting that miscreants infiltrated the protests.

Petitioners have sought the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a retired Chief Justice of India.
