Easiest Way to Start Welding | Beginner TIG 1

Описание: This is for people new to tig welding or thinking about getting into it. Over the years, I’ve had a lot of success introducing people to welding using this method and these drills. It is designed to avoid the two biggest problems most people learning how to weld experience: 1) tense/awkward hand control; 2) difficulty seeing the puddle.

Both these issues often stem from how people are taught. After all, those of us teaching already know how to weld, so it’s easy to take for granted what our eyes and hands have figured out. This beginner lesson is set up to let your hands and eyes learn the critical foundational skills without your brain getting in the way.

Think of this analogy. Let’s say I describe to you how to walk across the street—I give specific angles to bend your knees, exact heights to lift your feet, which muscles in your leg to use at a given time...you get the idea. How do you think a person thinking about all that will do? Try it. You’ll be walking awkwardly, maybe even partially forget how to walk at all.

This is what happens when most people are introduced to TIG welding. It’s directly responsible for the #1 biggest problem, and indirectly responsible for #2 (because your eyes start paying attention to things you need to NOT look at to see the weld puddle right). Unfortunately, this leads most beginner welders down a path of developing bad habits and spending a lot of time and frustration working their way back out of them. It probably took me a couple years to FULLY get rid of all the bad habits I picked up accidentally (just little things my eyes and body did) in welding school.

This is the foundational lesson for tig welding that will set you up for success in more advanced lessons. It is the first lesson in a multi part series.
