Spalted maple is known for its intricate black "zone lines" and beautiful discoloration caused by fungi, resulting in a one-of-a-kind pattern.
This project focuses on clean lines and showing off the natural figure of the wood. See how I turn the box interior, create the friction-fit lid, and bring the piece to a mirror-smooth finish. This box would make a perfect salt cellar, jewelry holder, or treasured keepsake.
