PM: Tabung Haji RCI report may be out today, or latest by Wednesday

Описание: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the final report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Tabung Haji could be released today if Cabinet approval is not required.

Anwar said he had written to Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar to determine whether the report must first be referred to Cabinet.

He stressed the people have the right to know, adding the findings point to violations of numerous rules and major abuses.

The government had earlier deferred publication while Tabung Haji underwent recovery, but Anwar now believes the fund is on firm footing.

He praised chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain and his team for restoring transparency and sound management.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said Cabinet will discuss the proposal before a final decision.
