West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Friday alleged that migrant labourers are being tortured for speaking Bengali in BJP-ruled states.
She accused the BJP of attempting to incite unrest in West Bengal, claiming the party fears defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections.
Referring to protests in Murshidabad’s Beldanga over attacks on migrant workers outside Bengal, she said the minority community’s anger was legitimate and asserted that the state stands by affected families.
