Ontario Greens have been clear: we need a wartime housing effort to get more homes built now.
That means public and private actors coming together to mobilize an all-hands on deck building campaign like this province hasn’t seen in decades.
Not a government breaking all the rules so wealthy, Ford-connected speculators can cash in billions.
It means funding in three key areas that Ontario Greens have repeatedly called for:
Money to end homelessness through massive investments in non-market housing solutions like permanently affordable non-profit, co-op and supportive housing;
Money to make home ownership a reality for more Ontarians by ensuring municipalities have the funding they need to achieve their ambitious housing targets; and
Money to support climate-friendly building through residential retrofit grants and funding for renewables so people can save money by saving energy.
Winter is just around the corner, and this government is leaving people and communities out in the cold.
We’ll keep pushing this government to pull its head out of the sand and step up with real solutions to build homes people can afford in communities they know and love.
