Which golf grip is best for me? Interlocking, Overlapping or Baseball?

Today we are going to be talking about the different methods of gripping the golf club and after we have chosen a grip method that suits our game and the size of our hand and the length of our fingers, then we are going to look at what we can do to get rid of the slice or the hook. 0:23 Let's get started. There are three ways of gripping the golf club. Number 1 the 10 finger grip or the baseball grip, number tow the overlapping grip and number three the interlocking grip. These 3 grips are very similar. The only thing that differentiates these grips from each other is the way we join the hands.

0:45 So let's start with the baseball grip. This is what the baseball grip looks like. All 10 fingers are touching the grip with the baseball grip. Very important is that you have both hands tucked in together. Make sure there's not a gap between your hands, otherwise your right hand will do too much. The first thing you need to do with the baseball grip is place the grip in between the fingers of your left hand and the palm of your right hand. Now close your hand and when you close your hand make sure that your thumb points slightly to the right. Now take your right hand and move your hand until your hands are touching one another. And when you close your right hand, your left thumb should disappear. My right thumb points slightly to the left. So that is the baseball grip. The advantage of the 10 finger grip is: a lot of golfers dislike the 10 finger grip and feel that this way is the simplest way of gripping the club. And they just do it that way which is fine. Some golfers do not have so much strength and we golf teachers teach our juniors to grip the club this way because the right hand comes into play more. You can close the hands better when they are more apart. But the negative is that hands are sometimes too far apart and it can be difficult to use the hands as one unit.

2:22 The second grip is the overlapping grip.This is probably the most popular grip amongst pros and amongst the amateurs that I have taught. And the difference to the baseball grip is the following: I want to join the hands by placing my pinkie on top and between my index finger and my middle finger. The other three fingers go on the grip and I close my hands.

2:59 The third and last grip is the interlocking grip. Very similar to the baseball grip and to the overlapping grip. The difference is that I connect the index finger of my left hand and my pinkie of my right hand. I interlock these two fingers. The advantage of the interlocking grip is that you are forced to have the hands as one unit. When you hit the ball with this grip you will feel that you are hitting the ball with both hands. That's the reason why I use this grip. The negative is :a lot of players grip the club very tightly and they tend to have sore fingers when they use the interlocking grip. So they prefer to use the overlapping or the baseball grips.
