Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully conducted the maiden flight test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.
The rocket achieved its maximum range of 120 km, executing all in-flight manoeuvres and striking the target with textbook precision. An upgrade over earlier 40 km unguided and 75 km guided variants, the system significantly enhances the Indian Army’s precision-strike capability and can be fired from existing launchers.
The milestone follows modernisation approvals by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, reinforcing India’s defence preparedness and self-reliance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
