The Liberal government will shut down the Coast Guard's only emergency diving team specialized in search and rescue. The lack of an emergency diving team has would make our coasts less prepared to respond to emergencies, and could lead to deaths.
The government must reinstate the dive team immediately and restore funding and resources to Coast Guard services, including the reopening of the Comox Marine Communication Traffic Service Centre (MCTS) and making the Coast Guard responsible for directing the removal of abandoned vessels.
