There’s a long list of male singers who can “croon” out a love tune…but there are only a handful who can really bring a lady to her knees with their style. Most originated in the 70s and 80s and among them is Ron Isley, Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross, and Alexander O’Neal to name a few…and then there’s Howard Hewett. Yes Ladies! For those of you who remember those days…I can only attest to what I have heard from listening to the CD…but the man does still have it! In this new CD titled “Intimate” Howard takes us on a music journey back into the popularity of his days with Shalamar and into his beginnings as a solo artist. The songs on the album were recorded with a live audience.

Most know that Howard Hewett was the former lead singer of the popular R&B group Shalamar but this dynamic singer also has some very strong roots with gospel music. Howard grew up in Akron, Ohio and moved to L.A. in 1976 where he was introduced to Shalamar member(s) Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniel. He was with the group from 1976 thru 1985 and ventured into his solo career when the group disbanded in the mid-1980s. In addition to performing and recording his own music, Howard has collaborated with many other Artist, both in the jazz and R&B circuit. Some include Joe Sample, Brian Culbertson, George Duke, the Rippingtons, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Stevie Wonder. The song “Heaven Sent You” was originally produced with the collaboration of Stanley Clarke and George Duke.
