Today is the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord. In the Gospel according to St. Luke. Jesus reminds His disciples of what Scripture said about the Christ.

He would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day so that repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached in His name. This would be completed in His ascension into heaven from where the Holy Spirit promised by the Father would be sent to His disciples. This moment of blessing and reassurance Filled Jesus' disciples with great joy.

They continually praised God, awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit so they could be Jesus' witnesses to the ends of the earth.

Friends, how do we celebrate the Lord's Ascension? It is consoling that Jesus does not stop interceding for us before the Father. Are we joyful like the disciples to be Jesus' witnesses?
