Bristol Bears U18 were crowned PREM Rugby NextGen champions for the second time in the club’s history after a remarkable 36-38 derby victory over previously unbeaten Bath in a thrilling final at Kingsholm.
The young Bears fought back from 19-7 down to seal a historic triumph, winning a seventh successive game since Christmas to complete a stunning turnaround in the competition, as they bounced back from defeat in the opening two fixtures to take the title in dramatic style.
Two tries apiece from the outstanding Caspar Reeves and Will Papp together with scores from Malachy Parsons and Casper Wheeler, and eight crucial points from the boot of Bruno Lamb was enough for the Cubs to edge a 74-point thriller at the end of an action-packed finals day.
