3 Shelter for Life Homes Built for Families in Nasivanthivu, Batticaloa

Описание: In partnership with Anbaalayam and generously sponsored by the Engineers Charity Fund – Australia, we are proud to share the completion and handover of three Shelter for Life homes in Nasivanthivu Village, under the Valaichenai Divisional Secretariat in the Batticaloa District.

For years, vulnerable families in this community were living in unsafe temporary shelters that did not meet basic safety or hygiene standards. Following detailed field assessments conducted jointly by Vanni Hope and Anbaalayam, three highly vulnerable families were identified for permanent housing support.

Through this project, we constructed durable, permanent homes for the families of Gnanachandran Siyamala, Katheerkamathamby Sanchutha, and Seenithamby Vijeyakumar. Each home was built with two bedrooms, a living hall, a kitchen, and a toilet facility, along with concrete flooring, plastered brick or block walls, and asbestos sheet roofing to ensure safety, durability, and protection from the elements.

These Shelter for Life homes now provide secure and dignified living conditions for families who were previously residing in extremely vulnerable circumstances. The completion of these homes marks a meaningful step toward long-term stability, safety, and improved wellbeing for the families of Nasivanthivu.
