After a brief pilot phase at the Elliott Donnelley Youth Center and the Garfield Park Golden Dome, HoopsHIGH entered its first school partnership at the original George Westinghouse High School in the fall of 2000, leading to this pilot telecast of Manley vs. Westinghouse from January 2001.
This show was produced by the first HoopsHIGH crew and staff that laid the groundwork for many great HoopsHIGH accomplishments to follow.
To set the scene for this game, Westinghouse was having a down year relative to the year before (when it won the City Champion and came in 2nd in State) and the year that followed (when it would win both City and State), but Westinghouse always played like Warriors. Manley featured the superstar Luther Head who could jump over the backboard. Check it out for yourself.
