In this part of the freight broker training video I will cover what is a Freight Agent? A Freight Agent is responsible for helping shippers move and manage freight from point A to point B. They are NOT required to be licensed by the FMCSA or to be bonded.

Find shippers
Rate shipments
Source motor carriers to move freight
Dispatch drivers
Make sure freight delivers on-time

***Freight Agents are NOT responsible for credit, invoicing, collections, bad debt or insurance.

This allows agents to focus on helping their customers/shippers by insuring that their freight picks up on-time, delivers on-time, in good condition with no problems!

Freight Agents can work as W2 employees but are typically independent contractors that work on straight commission which typically ranges from 50-70% of the gross profit from each load.
