This is how we protect any wood post we are putting in the ground. Use a quality sealer to coat the bottom of the post that you are putting in the ground and this will help protect it from moisture. Another tip is check the mistinted paints at Lowes or Home Depot for wood sealer you can usually pick it up for $5 to $10 a gallon instead of $40. This is how we do it and you can too.
