Day 1 to 3 of a 291 km, 12-day self-supported solo hiking and packrafting expedition through Norwegian Lapland, with descents of the Áhkkanasjohka, Kárášjohka & Altaelva rivers.
During these 3 days, I hike from the town of Kautokeino (where I have arrived by bus from Alta) to the Áhkkanasjohka river, across the bogs and mires of the barren Finnmarksvidda plateau. Initial walkable ATV tracks eventually give way to erratic pathless terrain.
As hiking with a 32 kg backpack is hard enough as it is, I decide not to shoot video and stick to still pictures for this part of the expedition.
