In this lecture, I expound a theory of all art as derivative, hand-me-down, stolen, plagiarized, apocrychal, etc, based on and derrived from James Joyce's "Finnegans Wake" (1939). My goal is to explicate Joyce's assault on the author-as-authorizer-of-meaning, showing how Joyce accepts the discursive facts which provide the conditions for signification and the ability to appear to present an authorial voice which authorizes a proper reading. All quotes are from "Finnegans Wake". Enjoy!
