Below is a simple at-home order of worship with prayers and reflection questions to help guide your time. We invite you to move through this service at your own pace—pausing, reflecting, and opening your heart to God’s presence from wherever you are.

Opening Prayer:
God, our light and our salvation, Jesus announced the nearness of your kingdom and
called his disciples to be fishers of people. Give us courage to follow in the way of Jesus,
that our lives may bear witness to the good news of the kingdom at hand and our
vocation serve to draw people to your salvation. Through your Son, Jesus Christ, in the
power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer for Illumination:
God, illumine our minds by the power of your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read
and your Word proclaimed our eyes may see your kingdom, our ears may hear the call of Jesus, and our hearts may know the joy of your salvation. Amen.

Sermon: Light Gathers

Questions for Reflection:
What does it mean in your life to follow Jesus? To “fish for people?”
What might you need to leave behind?
What are some of the blessings you have received as part of a community? As part of the
body of Christ?
Who in your life do you need to remind that they matter and are valued exactly as they
are?

Prayers of the People:
Let us join our hearts praying God of light and responding hear our prayer.
Loving God, your light reveals the needs of world and your salvation offers hope to all in
need, to all who are lost. Hear us as we pray for our world, its peoples and all those in
darkness. God of light, hear our prayer.

We pray to you for all impacted by the winter storm, for safety for any who have to be
outside and for those first responders bringing help and light; for a warm, welcoming
shelter for all experiencing homelessness; and for your light to be comfort and peace to
those anxious or alone. God of light, hear our prayer.

We pray to you for your holy church, that all those who call Jesus Lord may live in
harmony with one another and offer a place where all are welcome and know they are
valued, just as they are. God of light, hear our prayer.

We pray for the world, for those places where peace seems only a dream. Break the yoke
of violence that the burden of war might be lifted and peace a reality. God of light, hear
our prayer.

We pray for the leaders of the nations that they may be just and faithful in their calling
and serve the good of all creation. God of light, hear our prayer.
We pray for those suffer disease of body or mid, that they may know the light and power
of your healing grace. God of light, hear our prayer.

God of our salvation, through Christ and your Holy Spirit, may we be attentive to the
cries around us and offer your light however we can. Amen.

Blessing:
May the light of God’s love be our peace.
May the light of Christ guide our path.
And may the light of the Holy Spirit empower us, together, to be light for others and
share with the world the joy of our salvation.
Amen.
