It took nearly a century for queer representation in horror to move from a place where even being gay on screen was disallowed, to a cinematic world where queer characters can be the heroes. Rather than being killed off in the first act of a horror movie, queer characters now have their perspectives centered. So how did we get here? And why are these important stories only being told now?
