We were one of the pioneer companies to be set up on the island, widely recognized as the Silicon Valley of the East and home to many of the world's multinational corporations. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of optoelectronic semiconductors for the illumination, sensing and visualization sectors, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors combines the extensive know how in semiconductors, converter materials and packages under one roof.
In 2009, we expanded our manufacturing capabilities for ultra high brightness LED chips by transferring technology from Germany to Penang and it is now the world's first dedicated 4" sapphire wafer manufacturing plant for opto semiconductors.
