Stack's Bowers Introduces the 1916 MS67FH Standing Liberty Quarter

Описание: It would be the sign of an important sale for Standing Liberty Quarter specialists even if only one of the three MS-67 Full Head examples of the 1916 listed at PCGS were to be offered in the catalog. In this sale, however, we are extremely fortunate to present two of the three finest-certified examples of this important key-date issue. (Incidentally, this cataloger also had the privilege of handling the third PCGS MS-67 FH of this date when it was offered as lot 3132 in our August 2006 sale of the James W. Lull Collection of Standing Liberty Quarters.) The Malibu Collection specimen is the subject of this lot, and it is a richly original and solidly graded Superb Gem. An otherwise brilliant-looking obverse does reveal splashes of pretty olive-orange iridescence here and there at the border. The reverse is more extensively toned in steel-blue patina, although a small area of brilliance remains in the center. Both sides are fully frosted in finish, their surfaces silent on the subject of even trivial abrasions. A sharply executed strike rounds out an impressive list of attributes for this important Condition Census piece. This coin was graded PCGS MS-67 and sold for $115000.
